Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind Official Video

Ok i'm not goin to say much about this because we've already covered it and shown the live version but here's the official video release.

As usual I do have one issue...can someone tell ms Keys she doesn't have to be stuck to that bloody piano in every single song she's in!! We get it by now, you actually play and you are talented, either get a chair and sit down and play properly or just ditch it! ...ok rant over. woohsah!!

DJ Hero Advert

Check out the new advert for the upcoming DJ Hero game. Can't lie looks kinda fun! If it's half as good as the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games I think i'm gonna have to cop it.

As for the ad, nice job. My only gripe is that I would had loved for it to be endorsed by an actual DJ. Don't get me wrong, good job gettin Jay-Z and Eminem to back it, that's some major pulling power. Just imagine if you had Jazzy Jeff playing behind them though!...Then again, these kids nowadays would just say "what's that guy from the fresh prince doing in there?!"

Michael Bisping x Ecko

There are a number of brands on the market at the moment in the 'MMA wear' category, think Tapout or Clinch Gear. If you follow MMA at all you will have noticed Ecko have also entered the arena and have now teamed up with top British fighter Michael Bisping.

Personally I used to be a big fan of Ecko but for a few years now I felt like they had fallen off, or maybe i've just grown out of it? Either way, this is not a bad move for them and I can't say anything bad about the efforts on show so far.

Check out some of the new Ecko x Bisping range below. (Click pictures for larger view).

Nike Air Maplins

Don't rush down to Footlocker or Maplins just yet people, these were made by an artist called Gabriel Dishaw. There are based on a Men's size 9.5 Nike shoe & made from total junk, they are just really cool!

Gabriel stated "I used very little wire & more glue to keep the piece more clean, & less bulky. I also added new details, a hinged tongue and Nike logo's on both the tongue & back of the shoe. On previous models I used a real Nike sole to build of off. With this piece I started from scratch & build the sole from circuit boards. "

Michael Jordan is a Jackass

(You may need to pause the video until it has loaded a while to view it smoothly)

After all the tales that have gone around in the past about the 2nd most famous MJ in history, Chamillionaire shares the story of his own face to face experience. Let's just say he doesn't give a shining endorsement of a man who is a hero to millions.

I've got to admit i've never been a big fan of Cham's music, not because I don't like it, I've just never picked it up really, he comes across well here though. A lot of rappers nowadays are jumping on the video blogs but it's good to see one who can put himself across and tell a good story, and without cursing! A big difference from some others who can't even speak coherently...hold tight Lil Wayne!

Anyone got a light?

I know what you are thinking. What...is...that?! Your next thought is probably hmm it looks like a set of lights, it's made by the renowned hat makers New Era, it's got a clip, which looks like it would fit onto a...what?! Yes it's a clip on set of LED lights for your fitted cap.

My initial thought was this has to be just for the Japanese market. Thinking about it though it's probably as ingenious as it is strange. It is actually a functional bit of kit. Think riding your bike in the dark evenings...think a great new tool for DJ's...think bedtime reading (of course you wear your hat in bed!)...think scaring the crap out of your neighbours by standing outside their window at night. OK so not all of those were serious suggestions but it's a quirky accessory for sure.

Leona Lewis Might Want Lessons From Lennox!

Leona Lewis has been punched during an promotional book signing for her new book "Dreams".

"Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack," the singer's rep said in a statement. "The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings."

Photographs show Lewis leaving Waterstone's bookstore with sunglasses on and a pained expression on her face. Reports indicate she was taken to a doctor as a precautionary measure.

An eyewitness at the store told the BBC, "[Lewis] was running out with her hand over her eye, and I just saw a man on the floor. Suddenly the security all jumped on him and they were trying to pull him out and he was just laughing. He thought it was funny."

I bet she didn't imagine "a moment like this" happening! (sorry I had to do it)

Haye vs Valuev - David Taunts Goliath

With less than a month remaining until the showdown between the biggest man in boxing and the man with arguably the biggest mouth, David Haye has decided to go on the offensive in the way he knows best.

Hate him or love him you've got to admit Haye is trying his best to single handedly spice up the the dull heavyweight division. After the disappointment of his matchup with Klitschko being called off, he has once again set about winding up his giant opponent, polarising fans in the process.

So for his latest trick Haye has decided to stage a fake press press conference complete with a man in a mask dressed as Valuev. Add to this the cardboard cut out of Valuev which he knocks the head off. So is the 7 foot Valuev going to be riled by this? If not I wonder what he thought about Haye's other thoughts...

"He's an ugly type of fighter, he tries to lean on you, tries to brawl and comes out with a really hairy chest that gets matted and is disgusting."

"I've never been a big fan of the matted hair in my face. The size I am, I sort of come up to his chest and apparently the word around the campfire is that he doesn't smell too sweet."

"I've talked to a few guys that have been in the ring with him and they say that's the first thing they notice, just the stench."

"Hopefully he runs a cold tap over himself or someone hoses him down outside before he comes in."

You can watch the video of the "press conference" here

BBC stand by BNP activist interview

The BBC has defended a decision to broadcast an interview in which a BNP activist claimed England footballer Ashley Cole was not "ethnically British".
More than 100 people reportedly complained about the interview with two leading young members of the far-right party on Radio 1's Newsbeat programme.
But the programme's editor defended the piece, broadcast on September 30, saying he had also received messages from listeners who believed it had "exposed the BNP on a range of issues", as well as "a great many texts" that were "broadly supportive" of the extremist party.

During the two-minute item, one of the interviewees, introduced on the programme as "Joey", was asked if he would have a problem with Cole calling himself British.
He responded: "He cannot say he is ethnically British."
He also spoke of Cole "coming to this country", even though the Chelsea player was born in Stepney, east London.
BNP leader Nick Griffin was also interviewed separately on Radio 1, which has a mainly young audience of 11 million a week.
A BBC spokesman said: "Newsbeat interviewed Nick Griffin and two young BNP activists in the light of huge audience response to recent stories about BNP electoral success and what they stand for.

In my opinion, this portrays the impression that the BBC support these views as they are normally very stringent on UN-PC views being aired. Ross & Brand & the Many Clarkson quotes. The BBC say that 11 million people heard this interview (so they say) & got back "positive" feedback? Its seems like it's a party broadcast for the BNP!!!

The NOBO's (sorry I mean the MOBO's)

Many people were like "I'm not watching that joke awards"...

With that said the status of people's Facebooks really pointed out what the MOBO's is. Yeah a waste of time and money I say. Nobody takes this award show seriously.

Reggie Yates and Miss Keri (fine ass) Hilson presented the show and there was much to live up to as it was set in Scotland for the first time (spot the black people).

Former Destiny Child Kelly Rowland was not happy on the night (nor were the public who pay tv license), its been reported that she was not happy with the sound while she was performing When Love Takes Over, her song that made it to #1 in the UK charts. She said the poor sound had made her "work harder" and added: "What I will say is the Mobos owe me an apology! I was LIVID after the show!" (join the queue yeah)

To tell the truth the show must be fixed and I think I know how (who ever can make it or come to the event gets an award. Nah for real soon I can see an award been given out to the person who has attended the MOBO's the most.

The winners on the night were:

Best UK: N-Dubz (err so no Dizzee?)
Best Song: JLS (who are the judges as someone needs to be fired asap)
Best Album: N-Dubz (sorry just threw up) I don't even know one person who has this.. how, what and why?
Best DJ: Trevor Nelson (errrrrrrr please break down the word dj aka disc jockey becuase i thought this meant a DJ that can mix).
Best Hip Hop: Chipmunk (Are u crazy so the heavy weights as Jay-Z, Kanye etc don't get it but a young up and coming star with one album and plenty of youtube clips gets this).
Best R&B: Keri Hilson (like i said who ever is in the country gets an award but i'm not saying Miss Hilson has not earnt this.)

This is painful to write but I got to inform my people...

Best International: Beyonce (yeah maybe)
Best Video: Beyonce, Single Ladies (I've watched this video with speacil glasses lol)
Best Reggae: Sean Paul (I Swear he wins this all the time) Just give him the award lol

Question is why in Glasgow????????????

If you missed out (you didn't!) then click on the link below and have a cup of whatever and watch...

Empire State of Mind - Live on Jonathan Ross

So here's Jay Z's performance of Empire State of Mind (as mentioned in the review below). Hats off to Bridget Kelly for outshining Alicia Keys on her part! Watch for her in the future, apparently a new signing under Hov's new label.

Blueprint 3 - LB's Verdict

After sitting on it for a few days and giving it some heavy rotation I feel I can now give a proper judgement of Jay-Z’s 11th album, The Blueprint 3.

So where do we start, is this to be another classic in the vein of the 1st Blueprint album or a misguided collection of hit and miss like its sequel?

Let’s get into it. The album kicks off on a good note with What We Talkin About, which sets the tone for the rest of the album lyrically, Hov seems in a determined mood brushing off the naysayers and once again letting you know why he is still at the top of the game.

Thank You comes next with its laid back, celebratory horns and Jiggaman steps up a gear, once again shutting down his opponents with a smooth swagger announcing “I was gonna kill a couple rappers but they did it to themselves I was gon’ do it with the flow But they did it with their sales”.

If you have been near a radio in the last couple of months you will have no doubt heard the first 2 singles DOA and Run This Town. Personally I need to let these rest for a minute because any attraction I had to them in the beginning has quickly worn off. DOA due to so many listens and Run This Town due to the fact I can’t take any more of Rihanna’s painful vocals.

Empire State of Mind featuring Alicia Keys was initially a massive disappointment to me before I had even heard it. I read an early tracklist for the album which listed Nas as a feature and had NY State of Mind 3 running through my mind....imagine that! Well, no Nas and a different vibe to the aforementioned NY classics but I was won over. Opening with Travis Barker-esque drums ala Rihanna’s Umbrella, Jay champions his City ably assisted by Alicia. It’s no surprise this has become a hit in its own right. Check the video in the next post for the live performance on Jonathan Ross with show stealer Bridget Kelly who will make you say Alicia who?! (as well as a few other things...put your tongue away n stop gawpin!)

On with the album...As Real As It Gets is a solid track featuring Young Jeezy, sometimes i can’t stand Jeezy but he’s palatable on this one.

On To The Next One is probably the 1st club track on the album with a bass heavy Swizz Beats production, Jiggaman procedes to let you know what is no longer in fashion and how he stays on top of what’s hot.

A Star Is Born produced by Kanye is a wicked track with Mr Carter giving props where he feels due. Even some of his longtime haters (i.e 50 Cent, Mobb Deep) get positive mentions. My highlight on this track is how he takes what was once a major diss from Nas, “Eminem murdered you on your own sh!t”, and gives the man praise. ““Wayne did a milli, 50 did a milli, ‘Ye too But what Em did was silly. The white boy blossomed After Dre endorsed him His flow on “Renegade” – fuckin’ awesome Applaud ‘em.”.

Off That, Venus Vs Mars and Reminder are Timbaland’s offerings and although none of them leap out as some of Tim’s best work, each are worth a listen. Off That is much in the vein of On To The Next with Drake possibly being underused just on hook duty. Venus Vs Mars is a fun male/female clash over a brooding beat. Reminder is just that, if you maybe forgot or for some reason didn’t know why and how the man is at the top of the game, this will tell you why!

One of my favourite tracks has to be Already Home. The beat took a minute to win me over but lyrically its Fiyah. I’d say this tune sums up the tone Jay comes with for most of the album, brushing off his critics directly again even using their own barbs against them “Oh they call me a camel, but I mastered the drought, what the fuck I’m an animal, half man, half mammal””. Perhaps my only gripe is Kid Cudi only being used for a hook.

This leaves 3 tracks, Hate with Kanye West which i’m still undecided on, its got a quirky switched up flow but not a favourite. So Ambitious i’m trying hard to like but as with alot of recent Neptunes productions I feel a bit let down. Forever Young feat Mr Hudson...I hate it. What more can I say?!
