The iPhone 4G Saga

Over the last few weeks a story has been unfolding over the uncovering of a prototype for the new iPhone.

So the story so far goes...

*An Apple employee loses a phone in a bar in California.

*The phone is sold to techy blog Gizmodo who in turn give the phone a good going over *and air to the world.

*Apple then issue a letter demanding the return of their property (see here).

*Police raid Gizmodo editor Jason Chen's home and seize his computing equipment (see here).

*Brian Hogan owns up to finding the phone and selling it for $5,000 (see here).

I can't imagine Apple being anything other than embarrassed about the whole situation but the way they have dealt with it could have been handled better. It would seem that Jon Stewart agrees too as he went in on Apple and their heavy handed response saying “Apple you guys were the rebels man, the underdogs. People believed in you. But now, are you becoming The Man? Remember back in 1984, you had those awesome ads about overthrowing Big Brother? Look in the mirror, man!”

It'll be interesting to see what happens next to the iPhone 4G, Gizmodo and even Brian Hogan.

In the meantime check out the new phone!!

Smoking sKills

A different and pretty cool twist on the anti-smoking video....although at first it seems to be glamorising it but you get the idea in the end.

Harrison & Haye - Heavyweight Ambitions

Over the past couple of weeks the ever brightly shining star of David Haye continued to rise and the nearly burnt out star of Audley Harrison showed it still has a bit of twinkle left.

Haye, who has grown more and more popular with the public, and although still putting some off with his trash talking, has an uncanny knack of backin up his chat. After just 25 seconds of his 1st heavyweight championship defence, Haye dropped John Ruiz who had previously only been knocked out once. Luckily for anybody who forked out to watch the fight, Ruiz was up for taking a lot more punishment, being knocked down twice more before his corner threw in the towel in the 9th round.

Impressive again, David Haye showed he is a breath of fresh air to the heavyweight division with his swift movement and hammer like blows. Next up must be the Klitschko brothers and it seems Haye has definitely got their attention by the looks of Wladimir's comical video calling him out. He sounds like he'd be well cast for a baddy in a Die Hard film or something like that.

Now on to Audley....hmm. Our good friend and blog sister DJ Nikki is a good friend of Audley's and was invited to watch him as he won his "win or retire" bout for the European Championship against Michael Sprott. I am assured that he is a great guy and I don't doubt that. As your average boxing fan though it's a shame not to have the same insight.

A-Force, or as some have dubbed him, "A-Farce" or "Fraudley", was basically fighting for his career against an opponent who had previously knocked him out. Harrison laboured for most of the fight and found himself behind on the judges cards entering the 12th round. To be fair he was fighting with a shoulder injury for the majority of the fight...but saying that, Haye manage to defeat Valuev being one handed most of the fight? And I can assure you Sprott is no Valuev! To his credit Audley managed to dig in and rocked Sprott with a massive left which ended the fight in the 12th.

Now I have a few issues with Harrison...to me, in the fights i've seen, he just doesn't look comfortable in the ring. He fights on the back foot and almost looks scared on occasions. There's no doubt he was a talented amateur, they don't give away Olympic golds for nothing, but he just hasn't cut it as a pro. All this I could forgive though if it wasn't for his incessant self hyping and unrealistic boasts. If David Haye is the poster boy for talking sh!t and being able to back it up, Audley is the flag bearer for all those with delusions of grandeur.

You have to have confidence in any sport to do well and in boxing, a bit of self promotion is all part of the game. When your claims are so unrealistic and out of touch with public opinion though, so that even those who used to support you are alienated, you have to wonder whether it's time to pack it in.

When all is said and done I wish luck to both of them, I just hope Audley is able to reclaim some humility and then i'll be behind him all the way.

UK Talent: Open Your eyes to Obenewa

I'm all for showcasing UK talent and giving them the spotlight.

Obenewa is the younger sister of my friend Nadine Charles (get to know the name as I'll be blogging more on her). I have to thank Nadine for hooking me up on the guest list to witness Obenewa tear it up in Shoreditch House. The place was packed with industry people, other musicians and what not. Me being me bumped into a couple of faces I know. The crowd was loud as hell but I kinda zoned out when the host said that Obenewa was about to come on stage as all I wanted to hear the music.

Obenewa came on the stage with a guitar, and took a seat whilst the crowd clapped her. I first felt like I was in an underground world as I know I’m a big music lover and not to be big headed I know my music, but this was new to me as I’ve never heard of Obenewa. Mark my words though, I will never forget her now. As she sang away, I was like yeah this girl is bad. The UK can stand tall with talent like this and my ears were wide open.

I was clapping along and rocking side to side. Not knowing any of her songs, when the crowd were singing along, I just stood there amazed. Obenewa got the crowd to sing along after giving instructions and I loved it as she got the guys to sing one bit and then the ladies.

I'm downloading the mixtape as I type this (some killer tunes on here too)

Just wanted to big up Obenewa for opening my ear to some great music.

On that note here is the link for Obenewa's mixtape called “Therapy”

FDM new mixtape

Ok peeps if your wondering who the hell these guys are then let me fill you in. Before the days of JLS aka watered R&B we had Fundamental aka FDM...They have been busy in the states working on an album (for some time too). I have to give it to them, i'm a fan of their music, it's that old R&B with an edge and that feel good factor. They kinda remind me of a UK B2K (which ain't a bad thing)

Check out their old track playground for a reminder...
