Supra Red Canvas/Adidas Originals Kzklot

A couple of items that have caught my eye recently. (Hint: my birthday is in June)

First up Supra are releasing a Red Canvas pack for this Spring/Summer. The pack comprises of the trademark Supra high tops, some boat shoes (sorry Jay-Z but nah thanks) and some Stan Smith-esque tennis shoes. The high tops were my faves and a pair for this summer would be nice.

Next we have a collaboration by Adidas Originals and Originals. The "Kzklot" is all black and simple enough in design but i'm feelin it.

Supra Skytop II in White

Supra have become more and more popular recently with many other brands mimicking their currently in vogue style.

Here are the latest edition of Supra's original Skytops...think high tops but a bit higher.

Would I? Yea go on. Despite the fact most people would probably rock these with skinny jeans...which by the way I wouldn't unless looking like a giraffe wearing a pair of drainpipes was a good look...they get my thumbs up.

Adidas ZX800 Black & White

I've been liking quite a few of the colourways in the Adidas ZX range and they've done nicely with their latest black and white editions of the ZX800.

Admittedly not many trainers that aren't made by Nike generally touch my feet but at times you can't beat Adidas originals for giving you that something different.

The subtle chequerboard pattern is a neat addition. Still lovin my black and white Adidas Forum Mids at the moment but might just have to add these to the collection too.

Converse All Star Strap Hi Leather

I'll be honest, when I was young and Converse Chuck Taylors were all the rage, I hated them, I just wasn't a fan. Fast forward quite a few years and I've got to say my opinion has changed a lot and i'm the proud owner of quite a few pairs.

Anyway here is the latest release of their classic and it gets the thumbs up from me. As with many of the colourways and versions that have been released over the last few years, this is not a radical departure from the original, more like a subtle improvement.

In leather and adding two straps round the ankle, the new design is a must have for fans and collectors of All-Stars.

Nike Air Maplins

Don't rush down to Footlocker or Maplins just yet people, these were made by an artist called Gabriel Dishaw. There are based on a Men's size 9.5 Nike shoe & made from total junk, they are just really cool!

Gabriel stated "I used very little wire & more glue to keep the piece more clean, & less bulky. I also added new details, a hinged tongue and Nike logo's on both the tongue & back of the shoe. On previous models I used a real Nike sole to build of off. With this piece I started from scratch & build the sole from circuit boards. "

Air Jordan Force 4

You may have noticed by now I like my mashups, a couple of admissions though...
1. So far i haven't been all that impressed by the Jordan x Air Force that have come out.
2. I was never a massive fan of most Jordans full stop...I can hear the gasps of shock now and shouts of blasphemy. I liked a few but otherwise i thought most were just aight at best.

Anyways, back to the subject in focus...the latest concoction, the Air Force Jordan 4 (or IV). I'm loving the use of the original black and red colourway, a personal bias as these are my favourite 2 colours, but that aside, it just works.

Looking at the finer details, the air bubble being visible through the usual Air Force mid-sole is a nice touch. The red stitching running through will be a love it or hate it feature, personally I love it. Black would have been the obvious choice but I like the extra use of red.

Kevin Garnett x Chelsea FC x Adidas Basketball

First things first, just in case there's any dyslexic West Ham fans reading, calm down...this is NBA Star Kevin Garnett's name on a Chelsea shirt, not Alf Garnet..we know he loved the 'ammers!

So...as far as mashups go i'd give this one a "hmm it's ok". Putting aside my dislike for Chelsea my main criticisms would be...
1. This is last years shirt
2. I would have liked something a bit more to be done to the shirt, not just Garnett's name and number
3. Sorry i just can't put my bias aside...if this was Liverpool i'd probably love it!

(click picture to enlarge)

On the plus side though i'm liking the subtle details on the trainers such as the shirt number and the team emblem. Would I wear them though?....No!

I'll hang on for the Usain Bolt x Liverpool FC

Its Gotta Be The Shoes

Hip Hop & basketball go way back like the 8 track or if your younger VHS.

Rappers want to be ballers (Master P, Snoop & The Game to name a few)
Players want to try there hand at the Hip Hop Game (Shaq, Kobe,Chris Webber)

So the clever people at Nike made a throwback Rap group from NBA players (just for the advert) & got it produced by non other than Dj Quik (not even explaning if you don't know who is is shame on you) & Called them "Hyperizers"

Fog Raw is Mo Williams
Velvet Hoop is Kevin Durant
Chief Blocka is Andre Iguodala
Ice-O is Rashard Lewis

baddest advert out there at the moment don't you agree??

Rolland Berry Create x Reebok Pump / Maharishi x Adidas Stan Smith

Personally i'm a fan of the "mashups" you get between designers and the big sports brands, especially when it comes to trainers. For example Y-3 (Yohji Yamamoto x Adidas) and Alexander McQueen x Puma.

Here are a couple more of these....

ROLLAND BERRY CREATE x REEBOK PUMP
American artist Rolland Berry puts his stamp on the classics that are Reebok Pumps. I've got to admit at first look i just thought..no thanks. As usual with alot of these designs though, the beauty is in the detail. Close up you see the detail and comic book style design and i've got to say i'm actually quite liking them. I'd probably have to have a matching fitted though! :)

MAHARISHI x ADIDAS STAN SMITH
Always been a fan of Stan Smiths, the classic tennis shoe. Only gripe i had was the fronts come away a bit too easily. Anyway minor gripe aside here is a twist on that old classic with a more than a splash of Maharishi. Again as with the Reeboks it's all in the details. The Maharishi logo is used near the heel and on the inside is a "Mahadidas" lining. I like!

Kanye West x Louis Vuitton

So the hype has died down on the Air Yeezys (that was quick) and here is the latest footwear collaboration to come from the "Louis Vuitton Don"...

Not sure about these personally...my first thought was they look like a pair of Pumas with a "pull up" at the back. But i gotta say theyre growing on me, not enough to pay the extortionate $870 for them though...what credit crunch?!

Overall i'd say Kanye's gotta come with something Stronger cos for the price I'd expect them to have Diamonds and Flashing Lights. Actually scratch that, I wouldn't buy them if Jesus Walks in them.
