Def Jam has won the race to sign former Bad Boy rapper Shyne. It has been rumoured that a bidding war between Dre Dre (come on Dre has had many artist at his label and just wasted their time i.e Stat Quo, Bishop Lamont, Rakim and Busta Rhymes to name a few and by the way they have just re-signed The Game for what ever reasons), Jimmy Iovine and other labels. Def Jam now have the rights to release Shynes highly anticipated album. His last album was in 2004, with classics such as “Bad Boy” (just a reminder video below).
Shyne is reportedly planning to record his album in London even though he was not allowed entry into the country because of his convictions and immigration papers.
I’ll keep you posted peeps…

LL COOL J Denied Entry to the Hall of Fame
Hip Hop legend LL Cool J was not named as one the artists selected for entry into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, (you may be thinking, who cares?) it was announced recently. LL's career began in 1984 and this is the first year he is available to make the cut. He was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kiss, Donna Summer and Laura Nyro as other acts who failed to make the cut. Personally I would have thought at least the Chilli Peppers would get in.
Instead, The Stooges, ABBA and Genesis will be honored with entry into the Hall therefore only 2 Hip Hop acts: Grangmaster Flash and the Furious 5, and Run D.M.C. are the only Hip Hop acts in the Rock n Roll hall of frame. You can say what you want about LL but he is a big icon in Hip Hop, known for his longevity - as well as being the early face of Def Jam. He was the 1st artist to sign to the legendary rap label and helped bring Hip Hop to the mainstream with his Ladies Love Cool James appeal.
The Queens emcee has released 12 albums (eight of which have gone platinum and the others LL by many standards were poor lol) and has been awarded 2 grammys. Currently, LL is starring alongside Chris O'Donnell in the crime series, NCIS: Los Angeles.
With Only 2 Hip Hop acts in the Rock n Roll Hall of Frame its begs to ask where have they been the past couple of years as Hip Hop got more mainsteam. In musical terms though Hip Hop is still a young genre and maybe this will change in the near future.
Well I have a few LL tracks I like but this one comes to mind for a posses cut.
